Life is easier organised

Helping Hectic Homes

Our busy, fast paced lives often mean that we don’t find the time to keep our homes organised.

We can find ourselves stuck in a cycle of disorganisation, where the number of belongings increases, rooms become cluttered with items jarring for space and the house feels full.

Feeling overwhelmed at home can have a knock on effect on other aspects of our lives but decluttering can be liberating, freeing up mental and physical space.

Based in Cornwall, Home Tidy offers bespoke organisation solutions for hectic homes:

Decluttering

Do you feel overwhelmed at the amount of stuff in your home? Would you like to reclaim your space from the clutter but just don’t have the time to do it, or even quite know where to start? Is your wardrobe bursting at the seams but you always seem to wear the same things? A professional declutterer might be the solution.

I can help you streamline your belongings and implement systems to create functional spaces to keep the clutter under control.

I offer decluttering services for any or all rooms in your home:

Kitchen & pantry
Utility, laundry & boot room
Bedroom & wardrobes
Bathrooms
Study & home offices
Playrooms & nursery
Attic, sheds and even your garage

A calmer home means a calmer mind, which can flow on to every aspect of your life, such as work, family, social, downtime and health.

Working from home

Since the pandemic more people are working from home. During those first weeks of lockdown makeshift home offices sprung up all over the country, often with no proper organisational systems in place. Many functional workstations have been created in the intervening years but if yours still feels temporary and disorganised then I can help you implement processes to keep that area of your house tidy and separate from your home life.

Paperwork is one of the biggest contributors of clutter. I worked for many years as the Executive Assistant to the CFO of a global charity; I have the knowledge and experience to help you create a bespoke organisational system for the piles of paperwork that accumulate each week.

House move

Moving house can be extremely overwhelming. From general decluttering, so you don’t have to move unused items from one house to another, to making sure that your home looks its very best in the marketing material, there is a lot to think about, and that’s all before the packing even begins!

Let me help you make the journey less stressful.

–   Decluttering / downsizing before a house move

–   Staging and styling for estate agent photos

–   Emptying a home after a loved one has moved into care or passed away

–   Assistance with packing and unpacking home contents

–   Moving day supervision of removalists

Managing a second home

I owned a successful Bed & Breakfast in Penzance for many years and have a deep understanding of how a property should be presented to its guests. Even though you’ll be visiting your own home, I can take the hassle out of preparing for your visit by helping with the following:

–   Regular property inspections

–   Pre-visit tidying, bed-making, heating/cooling/airing

–   Post-visit tidy and laundry

–   On-site liaison with tradespeople

Please note, this is for second home owners staying at their own properties in Cornwall, it is not a service for holiday lets.

Archiving

I have a Masters degree in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester and will sensitively handle your collections, ensuring they are catalogued and stored correctly.

Collections might include:

Personal papers
Photos
Clothes
Art
Memorabilia
Other collections

How it works

Step 1 – Free Consultation

I offer a free 30 minute phone or video call consultation to discuss your current concerns and how I can help, whether its decluttering, home office organisation, house moving preparation or archiving.

Step 2 – Booking

If you want to proceed, we will make an appointment so I can visit your house for an on site consultation plus subsequent bookings for the actual work to be carried out.

I will ask you to agree to our Terms & Conditions.

Step 3 – On site Consultation

I will visit your house to go through each area of concern. Afterwards I will write a proposal, which I will send to you within one week of our meeting, covering your goals, suggested systems to implement and achievable timelines. Once you are happy with the plan, we will then make a booking for the home organisation to commence!

Step 4 – Decluttering/Organising

The main sessions can vary in length depending on the scope of work agreed upon. You might only need me for one session to sort through your wardrobe, or perhaps 3 days to tackle a number of rooms in one go. I offer a bespoke service so every booking will be different and tailored to your particular needs.

We will tackle the decluttering process together and I will never get rid of any items without your approval, nor force you to get rid of something that you really don’t want to.

Step 5 – Follow Up

I will provide you with personalised systems and tips to help you keep on top of the clutter.

Apart from the initial phone consultation, all time is invoiced at £30 per hour per organiser.

Testimonials

“My bedding cupboard was in chaos trying to cope with everything needed for our three houses with 14 bedrooms.

Lynsey sorted, organised and labelled everything for future use.

A great help and weight off my mind!”

Ann

“We needed our loft decluttering to allow overflow bedroom for three teenage grandsons. Lynsey cleared the room and made it very attractive and comfortable for them.

In the process she sorted and disposed to collectors over 50 years of Private Eye Magazines and football programmes together with a substantial removal of ‘junk’”
